Educational opportunities provide respectful interaction with interesting and like-minded people.

In the past, school was seen only as a place where children and adolescents went to prepare for a career and adulthood. That idea has been largely replaced by the idea of lifelong learning. Similar to the benefits of physical exercise, learning opportunities create stimulating environments that promote strength, flexibility, and endurance. Increased cognitive activity in older adults slows their decline in cognitive function and decreases their risk of mild cognitive impairment.
